On the surface level

On the surface level

MBA life is a whirlwind of activity, with every moment demanding your time, energy, and focus. It looks like an ideal picture on the surface—camaraderie, growth, and excitement—but beneath this lies a much more complex reality. Friendships are abundant but transactional, made from convenience, group assignments, or networking goals. True bonds are scarce because everybody is racing towards their own objective.

The pace is relentless. Days grow by seconds, minutes, and hours as deadlines, lectures, and projects take center stage. When little time is left for reflection, the word “busy” is worn as a badge of pride. Committee commitments, which are a great source of learning opportunities, spiral out of control into sometimes overwhelming responsibilities. Hours spent on delegating work, getting approvals, and executing events seem like a lot at times but thrilling at the same time.

With everything going on at such a fast pace, there is hardly any time to step back and contemplate if the life you are building aligns with your own aspirations. Everyone feels like they are part of the race—competing for grades, internships, placements, and even social recognition. While MBA life teaches you resilience, adaptability, and prioritizing your time, it also forces you to confront the reality of the world, which is often very harsh and hurtful. Knowing friendships are based on barter might take a toll on you, however they do make you mentally strong. The challenge is to find authenticity and meaning amid chaos, to be yourself, to learn to balance ambition with relationships, and to discover your true self in a world that never slows down. The real hustle is to keep your calm even when the world seems to be falling apart and make the most of the little moments that you have.
