Envision hosts Youth Entrepreneurship Summit 2023 at IIM Bodh Gaya
IIM Bodh Gaya’s Envision Cell recently hosted its annual signature event, the Youth Entrepreneurship Summit, in collaboration with Start-Up Bihar and National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD). The purpose of the two-day summit was to encourage youth entrepreneurship and provide a venue for aspiring entrepreneurs to present their business concepts. This year’s event was themed “Socio-Tech” and centered on the intersection of technology and social impact.
Dr. Vinita S. Sahay, Director of IIM Bodh Gaya, opened the summit by emphasizing the significance of entrepreneurship and encouraging students to become job creators rather than job aspirants. She lauded the efforts of the Bihar Government to foster the growth of startups, emphasizing the potential for Bihar to become the birthplace of a young, aspirational India. The Principal Secretary of the Department of Industries, Shri. Sandeep Poundrik, also shared his support for the event via a brief video message that emphasized the need to foster job creators in the state.
Ms. Radhika Bajoria, one of the top 25 most influential women in Mumbai in 2021, delivered the keynote address. She highlighted the significance of self-convictions and self-belief, emphasizing that people who believe in themselves can accomplish anything.
Mr. Amitesh Prakash, CIO of Karekeba Ventures, and Mr. Pratik Deo, serial entrepreneur and startup mentor, shared their invaluable insights on startups and entrepreneurship during the Mentogram workshop. Mr. Pratik advised students to stop comparing themselves to others, thereby granting them independence, whereas Mr. Amitesh acknowledged the significance of investors to society.
Mr. Sunil Kumar, the Chief General Manager of the Bihar Regional Office of NABARD, graced the occasion on the second day of the summit. He emphasized the rise in the number of entrepreneurs in the state and the role that IIM Bodh Gaya can play in assisting aspiring entrepreneurs to attain success.
Multiple business competitions with a total prize pool of Rs 2,200,000 were also held at the summit. Some of the competitions included in the event were business plan presentations, elevator speech contests, and case study analyses. The competitions saw many innovative concepts for which the winners won cash prizes.
The summit concluded with a “Fun Fiesta” featuring student vendors and an evening of music hosted by the Envision Cell. Dr. Srividya Raghavan, Associate Professor and Chair of the Envision Cell at IIM Bodh Gaya, was responsible for coordinating the entire summit. The students participated actively in the summit and gained knowledge about the dynamic startup ecosystem.
Overall, the Youth Entrepreneurship Summit organized by IIM Bodh Gaya’s Envision Cell, in collaboration with Start-Up Bihar and NABARD, was a tremendous success. Not only did the summit provide a venue for young entrepreneurs to exhibit their innovative ideas, but it also proved to be a platform for experts in entrepreneurship and investment to impart invaluable advice. The summit emphasizes Bihar’s potential to become a thriving startup ecosystem and the ability of the students at IIM Bodh Gaya to become job creators rather than job aspirants.
