Mindfulness: Need of the Hour for Students
At first glance, it might look like a spelling mistake, but it is not. It is very rightly called “Mindfulness.” It is about being mindful of our every action, surroundings, and, more essentially, our feelings. It is very lucid how important Mindfulness might be for students. Many people might perceive this to be similar to meditation, primarily but not entirely. For students, Mindfulness does not only help to improve concentration but also assists in making complicated decisions, looking at problems from different perspectives, finding innovative solutions for them, and being aware of one’s surroundings.
Students who often have cluttered thoughts face situations where they feel stuck between two options, and these are the exact situations where Mindfulness comes in handy. Daily practice of Mindfulness exercise helps one loosen(up) their thought process and have a calmer and more peaceful mind.
It is also observed that students are mostly exposed to deadlines which increases the stress that indirectly affects the quality of the outcome as one tends to rush the process. So is the same true for managers. When someone is given deadlines and targets to meet, there is a rush to complete them and meet the expectations. By practising Mindfulness, one can have a more relaxed mind and control how they react to situations and behave. These aspects significantly affect the productivity of an individual. These are also the qualities that are expected from a future manager. Speaking of rush and confusion, multi-tasking is also something that is expected by and large from everyone, but most of all from a student as well as from a manager. The prerequisite to multi-tasking is not only to be calm and have a sorted mind but also to work on a schedule and abide by it. Regular meditations and Mindfulness activities will also instill the habit of sticking to a particular plan and working accordingly. Since our students aspire to be future managers, they must imbue themselves with these qualities.
In today’s fast-paced professional world, one must remember not to flow with the stream. To keep up the quality of work and have a sense of mental calmness, it is a must to follow some kind of Mindfulness exercise as a daily practice. Students at a young age, exposed to significant levels of unavoidable stress and complications, have a very tender heart and mind. Not only to increase productivity but also to keep their tenderness alive, Mindfulness is a must practice.
