IPM-03 Orientation @ IIM Bodh Gaya

Greetings Readers!

Indian Institute of Management Bodh Gaya welcomed the third batch of students for the Integrated Programme in Management on August 27, 2023. The orientation programme for these brilliant young minds was held at the magnificent Mahabodhi Convention Centre in Bodh Gaya. The event began with a traditional Indian invocation and a lamp lighting ceremony, which instilled a feeling of pride in our culture and an admiration for the arts. The auditorium was filled with serenity and silence when the senior IPM students chanted the Saraswati Vandana, seeking the blessing of the Goddess Saraswati for the newcomers.

The orientation programme was also an occasion to celebrate India’s G20 Presidency, and the students were introduced to the significance of the event through a video. Thereafter, Prof. Vinita S. Sahay (Founder Director of IIMBG) addressed the audience with her words of wisdom, followed by a speech by the esteemed guest, Ambassador J.S. Mukul, [Former Dean, Foreign Service Institute (FSI), Former Ambassador to the Netherlands and Oman; Professor Emeritus & Director International Relations, Sushant University, Gurugram] with focus on the G20 Presidency. The speech ended with a short and informative Q&A session with Dr. Sayantan Ghosal (Consultant, RIS) as the moderator. As the event progressed, the students were also addressed by Mr. Samit Ghosh (Founder, Ujjivan Financial Services Ltd) and Mr. Ramanan Ramanathan (First Mission Director Atal Innovation Mission & former Additional Secretary, NITI Aayog), who shared their personal experiences and broached the topic of entrepreneurship. The one-on-one panel discussion next regarding “Skills Required for the New Age Business” between Mr. Debojyoti Bhattacharjee (Head – HR Strategy, Motherson) and Mr. Prabhakar Lingareddy (EVP & Head, Social Investment, ITC Limited) was a joyous one as one listened to their life experiences recounted with humour.

The lunch break was followed by a mind-blowing G20 Quiz conducted by The Quiz Masters Club, and an addressal on healthcare issues by the esteemed guest Mr. Vikram Bector (President & CHRO, Piramal Group). It was then time to energize with the cultural programme of the day! From beatboxing to instrumental music, from singing to dance performances in bhangra, hip hop, and contemporary style – it was all fun and games! Thereafter, everyone got a glimpse of the talent of IPM 03 students with a talent competition as part of Estovia 2.0. Every performance was a joy as the crowd cheered on the participants. With the felicitation of the Estovia winners, the day ended on a memorable and exciting note, marking a beginning of a new chapter for IPM 03 here at IIM Bodh Gaya!
