IIM Bodh Gaya Celebrates 6th Annual Convocation with Esteemed Dignitaries and Graduating Class

IIM Bodh Gaya held its 6th Annual Convocation on 7th April 2024, marking a momentous occasion for its 8th Graduating batch of 2022-24 in the Master of Business Administration Programme. The Chief Guest for the ceremony was the Honourable Vice President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar. The ceremony also hosted respected Dr. Shrimati Sudesh Dhankhar, the honorable Governor of Bihar, Shri Rajendra V Arlekar, G20 Sherpa, Government of India, and former CEO of Niti Aayog, Shri Amitabh Kant, Chairperson of the Board of Governors of our college, Shri Uday Kotak, and BOG members, Shrimati Prabha Narasimhan, Shri Rituraj Kishore Sinha, and Shri Damodar Mall.

The ceremony began with a Vedic chant, including Ganpati Mantra, Shiksha Valli, Mantrapushpam, and Shanti Mantra, as the convocation procession entered the hall to set the spiritual ambiance for the auspicious gathering. This was followed by the National Anthem. After welcoming the guests by presenting them with symbols of the land, the respected Chairperson of the Board of Governors, Shri Uday Kotak, declared the opening of the Convocation, greeted with excited claps and cheers by the students and the audience. The dignitaries on the dias then lit the inaugural lamp and formally inaugurated the convocation.

The ceremony continued with the rendering of the Saraswati Vandana to seek the blessings of Goddess Saraswati. The esteemed Chairperson of the Board of Governors, Shri Uday Kotak, delivered the welcome address, warmly welcoming the honourable dignitaries, graduating students, and audience. The address highlighted the college’s vision and mission of nurturing and developing mindful leaders of business and social relevance, as well as the college’s continued growth and commitment to excellence. After this enlightening address, the honorable Director, Professor Vinita Sahay, presented the highlights of the Director’s report for the year 2023-2024, providing further details of the college’s achievements and success in the placement process, management development programs, consultancy, and beyond.

Following a video of IIM Bodh Gaya’s state-of-the-art campus, the dignitaries released the souvenir, IIM Bodh Gaya’s Coffee Table Book, #EnlighteningIIM. The suspense and excitement among the students and audience soon peaked as the dignitaries handed out the medals to the rank holders of the graduating class. The Chairperson’s Gold Medal for the 1st rank holder was conferred upon Amardyuti Basu, who obtained the highest CGPA. The Director’s Gold Medal for the 2nd rank holder was presented to Deepak Sharma, with the second highest CGPA. IIM Bodh Gaya’s Gold for the Best Student Award based on academic performance, CSR and institution-building activities, event participation, and batch perception was given to Sujit Anil Chaubey.

The dignitaries then presented the degrees to ten students of the graduating class. Their batchmates, professors, and the audience cheered and clapped for the rank holders and the students as they received their awards and degrees from the honorable dignitaries. Then, it was time for the most-awaited address by the honorable Chief Guest, the Vice President of India. The Vice President spoke to the students on the importance of ethical leadership, compassion, and inclusion, which are values embedded in the institute’s vision, as well as the oath taken by the graduating class. He further inspired the students not to fear failure, to strive for innovation, and to harness responsibility as the torchbearers of the nation’s future.

After the inspiring address by the Vice President and the departure of the Vice President and the guests, the Chairperson of the Board of Governors, BOG members, and the Director presided over the ceremony and presented the degrees to the graduating students. It was a moment of excitement, pride, and achievement for all the students and their parents. As the ceremony ended with a short video clip of the students’ times at the college, the graduating batch reminisced on their shared experiences and friendships and walked away with many memories and an enhanced sense of responsibility.
