Experience in IPM, IIM BG
IPM is a program for young aspiring managers, and we joined the program straight out of school with a dream in our hearts.
The very thought of being at a premier institute like IIM, and being taught by the best of faculty members, was overwhelming. An enthusiastic and talented peer group from diverse parts of the country in the classroom added to the fun and fear.
The first few days of joining formalities saw the students clad in new backpacks and freshly laundered clothes, trooping in through the gates with their parents and guardians. The atmosphere was electric, with everyone greeting each other with a warm smile, getting the brief introductions done and trying to get familiarized with the hostel rooms, mess, and other infrastructure facilities.
Most of us didn’t sleep well on the 1st day with a lot of thoughts and nerves as we got ready to embark on an essential journey of our life as college students.
The orientation sessions with talks from the industry stalwarts, OTA leaders, and the team games motivated us, made us understand ourselves better and built camaraderie. The trip to Mahabodhi Temple helped us bond well with the batch. We also received the syllabi, curriculum details and expectations from us were explained. The faculty members made us feel at home, and we realized that we were fortunate to learn from the best. We waited with excitement for the commencement of the courses.
Most of us traveled home during the week-long Dussehra break and managed to spend some quality time with family and friends. Upon our return, we were busy exchanging stories about our trip and got mentally prepared for the busy schedule ahead.
The strenuous selection process for various committees and interest groups presented its own challenges and rewards to students; for most of us, it ended well. It also gave us the opportunity to get to know our seniors across different programs. Our seniors were always more than helpful – be it catching up for a quick pep talk or offering guidance & direction. Everything went a long way in helping us acclimatize to our surroundings and focus on our academics.
As we reflect on the last three months, there is a sense of accomplishment and loads of anticipation about how this phase will shape our life and career. We are confident that the rigors of the course and our learnings will prepare us for the long road of life ahead with success.
It is a new beginning for all of us, and we look forward to the learnings that lay in wait!
